Background
Pre Cana, at St Theresa’s is held on two separate Saturdays during the year, usually February and October It’s not your old school Pre Cana, but a multi-media, experience-centered learning process. Throughout the day engaged couples listen, participate, communicate with each other and with table host couples on topics of Christian marriage. Through the process of Slides, Film, Lecture, Dialogue, Games and Break-out Sessions couples are engaged to experience what married life is really like from young married couples to the seasoned couples on the team.

The day starts at 9:30 am and ends with attendance at the 5:30 family mass in the church. First thing in the morning is registration of attending couples, along with a continental breakfast. Host Couples sit at a round table with four pre-assigned engaged couples and assist them throughout the day with conversation, activities, questions and answers pertaining to the presentations which are given by other married Host Couples. A Buffet Lunch is provide, and a afternoon snack. The day ends with everyone pitching in to do the housework of cleaning up and attending the 5:30 Mass. This day has always been very rewarding for the engaged couples as well as the host couples.

This committee organizes and facilitates a whole day session as immediate preparation for marrying couples. Through a process of dialog, the seminar hopes that engaged couples internalize basic values of a Christian marriage. The Pre Cana seminars themselves are held twice a year, usually in October and May.
